Exciting News!!!

Last year around this time, we got what Rikk considers to be three pieces of bad news. All in the same day he didn't get a caribou, we got orders to New Mexico and he didn't make MSgt. Needless to say, Rikk was beyond unhappy about all three. This year has been quite different. It started off with...

Rikk getting a moose!

Us keeping our orders to Elmendorf!

And Rikk made MSgt!
Things around here are looking pretty good for us. We are happy that Rikk was able to kill something, excited about our orders to Elmendorf because we will still be close to family and friends and thrilled that Rikk made MSgt. He studied really hard and deserved it.
Elmendorf said that they would be able to take care of Kooper's leg and that they would more than likely fly us to a Shriner's when needed. Shriner's supposedly goes to Anchorage 3-4 times a year (we are supposed to meet with them next month), but if that doesn't work or isn't enough, then they will fly us to a Shriner's that can meet our needs (we are hoping it's SLC).
Rikk won't sew on his MSgt stripe until this next April, May or June. They do it by time and grade, so they have to do all the older guys first. He made it in 12 years!!! That's pretty awesome! We are all so proud of him, the hard work he put into it and thankful Dad was able to come and give him a blessing the night before.
So, that's our exciting news.

I am SOOO happy you are going to be coming to Anchorage! You might be away from your family in Fairbanks, but you will have us! Congrats to Rikk and his promotion and the blessing stories were amazing. What an amazing family you have made. I have thought about you guys often and love the pictures and stories as usual. Drop me a line sometime in your "spare time" hahahahaha.
