SUPER HERO TRIO

The boys got invited to their friend Benson's birthday party. It was a super hero theme and all the kids were asked to dress in super hero costumes if possible. The boys were super excited and couldn't wait for that day to come. Here are a couple pics of them before the party.

The Flash the later years...this is my favorite!

Spiderman...aka Walker

Batman...aka Hunter

My Super Hero Trio...am I safe or what!

Thank you KIAK FM!

Rikk did something unbelievably thoughtful for our three boys. He sent an email to the local country radio station here and asked them to do him a favor. Here is what he wrote:

Pete, The Cruiser and Kathryn

I first want to start by telling you how much I enjoy your show, I listen to it every morning while at work. I am an Air Force member stationed at Eielson for the last 7 years. I am currently deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi freedom. My men and I have been gone since early January and we are getting close to coming home. I have three boys at home with Mom and all of them love music, especially Country! My 5 year old Hunter, 3 year old Walker, 2 year old Kyler and I have "our" special song by Rodney Akins, Watching You. This song fits my boys and I to the letter. I would love to surprise them with a little message telling them how much I love and miss them and that song on the radio. If you would be able to do this it would mean the world to them and to me. Please respond if you are able to do this with the date and time so I can make sure that my wife has them listening. All of the boys are up by 0900 so anytime after that would be great, thanks again.

And this was there response:

Hi Rikk...
First, thanks for all you do and the sacrifices you have made. We would love to play the song for the boys and make it a special moment for them. We can do it on Monday morning, May 11, between 9:00 and9:30...probably closer to 9:00. Please send me a confirmation that you've received this email before Monday morning so I know you've received this and we can play your request (or you can have your wife email too) I'd hate to do it and have them miss it.

Thanks again,
Kathryn

And sure enough, Monday morning at about 9:15 they read most his email over the radio, mentioned the boys by name and told them that their daddy loved and missed them. Hunter was soo absolutely thrilled that he was bawling and laughing hysterically at the same time!!! He did it for about an hour and then the rest of the day he couldn't wipe the smile off his face. Hunter called them up right after the song and said thank you. But not only was the radio station nice enough to play this request and read Rikk's email, but they also gave me a CD copy of the segment. We listen to it over and over and over and the boys smile, laugh and sing along. If I knew how to put songs on this I would put the song on here, it would totally make you want to cry and see that it does fit our boys and Rikk perfectly. Thank you Rikk and KIAK for making a great memory for the boys.

This is the picture Hunter drew the radio station to say thank you. I love how Kyler's has a HUGE head and everyone has one eye bigger than the other! It's too cute!!!

Happy Mother's Day Mom!

I just wanted to tell my mom Happy Mother's Day! My mom is the best example of what a mother and wife should be. Ever since I can remember my mom has been there to wipe away the tears (even still), to give advice (that always works) and to lend a listening ear (no matter how long the venting). She taught me how to be kind, to love everyone and to "kill them with kindness" even if you would sometimes rather kill them!!! She is there whenever I need her, no matter what time of day. She taught me to remember that the boys are kids, not adults and robots (I can sometimes forget that) and that they will act like kids and have kid moments. My mom is my best friend (next to Rikk, but she was first!!). Mom, I hope you know how much you mean to me and how thankful and grateful I am to have you as my mom! I LOVE YOU BIG MUCH!!!

Sharp cuts!

I went and got them haircuts the other day. They look really sharp, although the lady that cut Kyler's basically took all of his hair! And on Walker's right side where his little head wound is still healing, it's a little longer because the lady that cut his was having a hard time with the glue that they used to close his wound. Hunter of course was happy to get a haircut, although his one complaint was that she takes too long! Always something with that kid. But they got them all done at the same time which was nice and Kyler didn't cry, Walker giggled because it tickled and Hunter was all smiles. I may be partial, but I think that these are the three most handsome AND beautiful little boys I have ever seen!

Rain boots and swings

So today the boys and I went and bought some rain boots. They were soo excited picking them out and couldn't wait to get home and try them out. We got home, got changed into play clothes and outside we went. We have a really big puddle in our yard and at the end of the driveway. Hunter walked right in, Kyler followed and Walker stayed on the outskirts of the puddle. Walker decided that they puddles weren't as fun as he thought they would be and got on the swing and Kyler followed.

And everyone was happy until there was a fall or two into the puddle in the yard. Hunter fell and started to cry because he couldn't get up because it was too cold and then Kyler started to fall and caught himself, causing the water to splash him in the face...or as he says, "Water in my nose!"
We were outside for all of five minutes and then everyone was ready to go in, strip down and get in the bath!!! But, they want to go back out and give it another try tomorrow and laughed about how things went today.

Corn anytime

So I have talked with many people about trying to get the boys to try and like different veggies and fruits. Everyone has had many great suggestions and I am VERY grateful for the help. My boys LOVE frozen corn...weird, yes, but when I get it out at dinner time to cook, they turn into little vultures! Am I right Martie?! So the other day Walker asked if he could have frozen corn...right in the middle of the day. At first I said no, but then I thought, "Why not?" So he sat there and ate two little bowls of frozen corn and couldn't have been happier. Oh and Kyler helped out with consuming the corn too (surprise, surprise!).

New use...

I caught Kyler on top of the counter top, which lately has been no surprise to find whenever I come into the kitchen. So I was starting to walk over to get him down and just stopped and looked at him. He wasn't trying to get into anything as he usually does, which was a big surprise. No, this time he was up there messing his pants!!! Yes, I said he was pooping! I didn't want to interrupt him, so I took a picture as he was finishing up!
