No pacifier and no diapers...

Well, it's official...Kyler is a BIG boy!!! After four horrible, terrible nights filled with screaming, crying, throwing ourselves on the (he and I!) and rolling around, Kyler no longer uses a pacifier. In fact, if you ask him about them he will tell you, "Pacie yucky!" and then make a funny noise. He goes to bed with a sippy cup of water...which he throws out against the wall when he gets mad. But it has been a week and he hasn't asked for one. Yeah for Kyler!!!

Now onto the no diapers part of this...Kyler doesn't wear diapers anymore...at least not when he wants to anyway. This last week he has been taking off his diaper right and left. Every time I turn around I get a glimpse of his little bare bottom. And if I am in another room and he does it, I still know because he yells out "Nakie Boy!!!" The other night when my parents were here helping putting the kids to bed and whatnot (which was beyond nice!), my mom went and got Kyler out of his bed because he had been crying for about 30 minutes. She comes out with him in her arms carrying his pj pants and he's got his blanket. What do I see peaking out of his blanket??? His cute little bum! My mom didn't even realize his diaper was off! So like I said we have been doing this about a week now. Last night I just got the feeling to go in and peek on him before going to bed. So I do and the picture above is what I saw. His pants are up by his head and his diaper is off and by his feet. And to top it off...he had wet his bed!!! So, it wasn't like I could just slyly put his diaper and pants back on...no, I had to get him out of his bed, change him and his bedding and he of course was now wide awake. YEA!!! Because of that we were up for another hour and a half. I talked with my mom today and she told me to cut the feet out of his feety jammies and turn them around so that he couldn't undo them. That is a great idea and I would have done it except I couldn't bring myself to cutting the jammies (had he starting doing this the week prior I would have because that's when I threw out his feety jammies with holes in the toes). So, what's my solution you ask. It's really quite simple...turn the diaper around and use duct tape if necessary! It was soo funny watching him trying to figure out how to get to the diaper tabs. It was like watching a dog chasing his tail...round and round he goes, when he'll get it nobody knows!!!

The dress...

Every year Rikk and I go to the Fire Fighter's Ball. It is a gathering for Eielson, Ft. WW, Fairbanks, and surrounding areas for all fireman. Eielson puts it on every year. It is held at a nice hotel in a banquet room. We have a really nice dinner, they have a slide show involving all fire departments, a special guest speaker, a raffle (they hand out things ranging from t-shirts to pearl necklaces) and dancing. It is a good time had by all. But every year I have been able to get a new dress which is nice. I was just looking around the other day online because I was bored and have found my dress for this year's ball. I have gotten all my dresses for events like these and my wedding dress at http://www.ldsbridal.com/ I have found that it is really the only place to get modest dresses. But I love this dress, it comes in two colors and I like them both. I would love your input on what you think about it. The ball is a fancy occasion, so keep that in mind and let me know.

Snow Buddies!!!

The weather had finally warmed up last week...into the 40's, so I had a chance to take the kids outside to play quite a bit. They absolutely LOVE playing in the snow. I think they would be out there all day if I would let them. Kyler wasn't too sure about walking in his snowsuit and was a little timid at first of the snow, but got used to it and loved playing on the play set and going down the slide. Walker and Hunter couldn't wait to get outside and never wanted to come in. Walker loved playing in the snow and going down the slide. Hunter loved burying his "treasures" (basketball and soccer ball) and using a stick as a flag for us to go and find. We were even able to invite the boys' girlfriend Madeline (yes, they say they have the same girlfriend) and her little sister Abigail over to join in the fun. They loved playing with them and going for a sled ride. It was a good time for all. Here are a couple of pictures from their fun.

Ouch!!!

Well today started as any ordinary day. The kids got up, I got them breakfast and we got ready for the day to run a couple errands. We went to Safeway to pick up some milk and movies for the weekend. I am sporting my new shoes that I don't slip around in on the ice (can you see where this is headed) and absolutely LOVE...thanks mom! We get out to the car and some idiot has parked so close to the side of the car where the kids get in and loaded, that I can't fit the buggy (yes I said buggy, not cart) in-between the two cars. I get Walker and Hunter into the car and have them get into their chairs. I go and get Kyler out of the buggy, take about three steps and we are down for the count. My new, no slip shoes have failed me and Kyler is sitting on my chest repeating over and over, "Mommy, you okay Mommy?" Since I was holding Kyler I couldn't catch myself without dropping him and landed right on my bum. It hurts like crazy. We lay on the ground for a few minutes while I tried to muster the strength to move Kyler's almost 30lb. body off of mine. I finally get Kyler in the car and myself in my seat only to have Hunter and Walker tell me they still aren't strapped in. What the crap! We finally make it home and I have been icing, taking Motrin and sitting on a baby boppie pillow. The thing that I never realized before was how much you bum is connected to things that you do throughout the day. For instance, I sneezed today and was almost in tears because it made my bum hurt so much...who'd a thought!

All New to Me!

I thought that I would start a blog to keep all family members and friends near and far updated on how we are doing. With Rikk being gone, I am hoping that doing this will cut down on emails and pictures I will have to send out. It may take me a bit to get the hang of this and to get pictures posted, so thanks for being patient.
